Sweet Home Alabama!
Alabama, home of Roll Tide, War Eagle, Talledega and now the Let’s Go Brandon movement. Alabamans have no problem letting you know how they feel. Take last year at the Nascar race in Talledega—no one even remembers who won the race. But it’s what happened afterwards that strikes fear and is like fingers on a chalkboard to the Left. During the winner’s interview the crowd was drunk with excitement and jubilantly started chanting “F@ck Joe Biden.” When you get 60,000+ fans chanting in unison, it sends a message. Go big or go home I always say! Instead of cutting the interview short, the reporter lied and reported that the crowd was chanting “Let’s Go Brandon!” Ironic how it was the “fake news” that was the start of the coded version of the message that now everyone could freely say in polite company.
Imagine the conversation between the XDMAN and Blount County Tactical owner Nathan Kirk. He had just purchased a sweet Ford F250 King Ranch. Such a pretty truck deserved a custom personalized tag. But not any tag, one of the relatively new pro-2a “Don’t Tread on Me” tags. The state allows six digits on such a tag. We both agreed it would be perfect for a Let’s Go Brandon - Forget Joe Biden (LGB FJB) tag. Now both of us being respectable pillars of the community we would never use such crass language like F@ck,—I get the vapors and faint while clutch my pearls just thinking about the word! And we would never use such language on an official state tag, that’s not our style!
Nathan went down to the DMV and about 700 dollars of taxes and registration fees later, he returned with a temporary tag bearing our forgetful message. A couple months go by and no metal tag shows up. Awww, the state must have denied the tag. In fact it turns out COVID had affected the blank aluminum license plate supply, and Nathan was issued a second temporary taper tag. After what seemed like waiting for Christmas the beautiful shiny tag showed up emblazoned with the letters LGBFJB.
Fast forward a couple months more and the local revenue department calls Nathan warning him that the State DMV were not happy with Nathan’s tag. She informed Nate that he had 10 days to turn in the tag, and buy a new one. If Nathan decided not to surrender the tag, he would face penalties, registration cancellation and up to confiscating his truck. Wow that’s a big threat coming from the State.
Now believe me when I say no one, absolutely no one, made any deal about the tag. Now in all honestly it is amazing how many people looked at the tag LGBFJB and read the tag as just a bunch of jumbled letters. And this is where the defense begins. When does a message become vulgar and offensive to the good nature and peace of Alabama citizens? When does an author becomes responsible for what others interpret and read into what a message means? For all we know LGB and FJB could be the initials of family members. Or Nathan could be telling others that he is a thirst boy with Let’s Go Buy a Fifth of Jim Beam. We have had countless phone calls and messages for how others can read and interpret the plate. So how far do you go to make sure any message will not offend anyone? Interestingly, there is a case in California of all places where a federal judge ruled California was discriminating against its citizens and their right to free speech with personalized tags:
Personally, I am offended that at any level in the process any one DMV worker can find offense and reject your tag. There is no consistency, what’s allowed with one teller can be blocked by another. The state approved the tag at multiple levels and even re-issued the temporary tags. It was not until one non-elected official made an opinion judgement until someone decided to find the tag offensive.
I am proud of Nathan that he did not just roll over. He is going to fight the MAN or in our case Mama Governor Ivey and the State of Alabama. Nathan has retained a lawyer and this story will be ongoing. Luckily we have spread the word, and everyone from Ben Shapiro to Sheriff David Clark has shown their support. Nathan was even interviewed during prime time on Greg Kelly show on Newsmax.
Oh gee, what a surprise! The next event was that Facebook hit him with the ban hammer … hmmm interesting timing. Right when we need to spread the word and build momentum Zuck has decided to shut us down. Deciding to go old school Nathan decided to spread the word by making replica license plates and T-shirts of the most hated tag in Alabama. What’s would be better that everyone riding around with a replica tag? Look up Blount Count Tactical in Oneonta Alabama and we can take an order over the phone or internet if you also want to forget Joe Biden!
